Suffolk Gold

A golden, buttery farmhouse cheese from Suffolk Farmhouse Cheeses

Suffolk Gold is one of East Anglia’s most beloved farmhouse cheeses — a rich, buttery, semi-hard cheese handcrafted at Whitegate Farm in Creeting St Mary, Suffolk. Made by husband-and-wife team Katharine and Jason Salisbury of Suffolk Farmhouse Cheeses, it showcases everything exceptional about small-scale British cheesemaking: pasture-led farming, quality milk, and true artisan skill.

Produced using pasteurised milk from their own herd of Guernsey and Jersey cows, Suffolk Gold takes its name — and its beautiful natural colour — from the rich, golden milk these breeds are famous for. The cheese is gently pressed and carefully matured to develop a smooth, supple texture and a warm, buttery flavour with subtle caramel notes.

The result is a cheese that’s incredibly versatile: soft enough to slice and enjoy on crusty bread, yet firm enough to grate, melt, or cook with. Its mellow character makes it a family favourite, while its depth of flavour earns it a place on even the most discerning cheeseboard.

Suffolk Gold pairs wonderfully with chutney, fresh tomatoes, crisp apples, or a glass of English cider or Norfolk ale. Melt it into toasties, bake it into tarts, or serve it as part of a Norfolk Deli cheeseboard — it brings warmth, richness, and a touch of Suffolk sunshine to every dish.

At The Norfolk Deli, we’re proud to champion producers like Suffolk Farmhouse Cheeses, whose dedication to welfare, quality, and craftsmanship is evident in every slice. Suffolk Gold is a shining example of East Anglia’s ability to produce truly outstanding artisan cheese.

A golden farmhouse classic that’s as comforting as it is full of flavour.

Please note all cheeses are hand-cut, therefore the weights listed are approximate. We work very hard to cut them as accurately as we can!
