Walsingham Vineyard

Walsingham Vineyard — Norfolk English Wine Producer

Walsingham Vineyard lies in the beautiful Stiffkey Valley, just south of Little Walsingham, within easy walking distance of the Roman Catholic Shrine at the Slipper Chapel and alongside the former railway line now known as the Pilgrim Way.

Part of the historic Walsingham Estate, the vineyard occupies a gentle south-facing slope chosen specifically for its ideal growing conditions. The free-draining soil is rich in flint and sits above an important seam of chalk — the same chalk formation that runs through England’s finest wine regions and extends into Champagne, Chablis and Burgundy. This chalk plays a vital role in producing wines with clarity, balance and structure.

Planted in April 2019, the vineyard grows three grape varieties: Bacchus and Solaris for white wines, and Pinot Noir for red and sparkling production. These varieties are particularly well-suited to Norfolk’s dry climate and long daylight hours.

The vineyard’s young vines produced their second harvest in 2023, yielding approximately 24,000 bottles. Favourable growing conditions and minimal frost allowed the vines to establish strongly, marking an important milestone in the development of this Norfolk vineyard.

Every bottle reflects careful site selection, patient cultivation and the growing confidence of Norfolk as an English wine-producing region.
