Meet the New Owners
The story of Chillies Galore doesn’t restart in 2025. It continues.
Founded in Norfolk in 1999 by Kathy and Richard, Chillies Galore became a familiar name at shows, farmers’ markets, and kitchen tables across the county. For 26 years they built a loyal following for their spicy-sweet chilli jams, jellies and sauces, winning awards and, more importantly, becoming part of people’s food memories.
For Max, this wasn’t a brand he discovered. It was one he grew up with.
As a child in North Norfolk, the Jamaican Peppers Jelly was always on the table at his grandmother Marita’s house — she was one of the earliest Chillies Galore customers. When Marita passed away, Max’s mum, Michèle, kept the tradition alive, always making sure a jar was within reach.
Chillies Galore also became part of Max and Sonya’s own story. The very first chilli jam Sonya ever tasted was a jar of Jamaican Peppers Jelly that Michèle bought for their first meeting. It instantly became a favourite.
After Michèle sadly passed away, Max and Sonya tried to track down the jam they loved but couldn’t remember the name. Then, while clearing out the car before her memorial service, Max found the jar buried in the boot. Sonya searched for it online that same day — only to discover that Kathy and Richard were looking for someone to carry the business forward into its next chapter.
The rest, as they say, is Norfolk fate.
After spending time in the kitchen with Kathy, learning the recipes and techniques first-hand, Max and Sonya are now proudly continuing the Chillies Galore story — making the same beloved spicy-sweet jams and sauces that have brought warmth, heat, and memories to Norfolk families for over two decades.
This isn’t a takeover. It’s a passing of the chilli baton.
