Why It’s On Our Shelves
Yoredale Cheese
A delicately milky, buttery Wensleydale with a fresh, clean flavour
Yoredale is a beautifully crafted Yorkshire Wensleydale-style cheese, delicately milky and buttery with a light, clean flavour that lingers pleasantly on the palate. Its smooth, creamy texture and subtle freshness make it a wonderfully versatile cheese — equally at home on a cheeseboard or in cooking.
Created by Ben and Sam Spence, two former finance professionals who swapped city life for the farm, Yoredale is made in small batches on their family’s North Yorkshire farm. Their passion for traditional cheesemaking shines through every wheel, shaped by time spent learning from masters of British territorial cheeses such as Stonebeck Wensleydale and Kirkham’s Lancashire.
Their dedication and craftsmanship were recognised in 2022 when they received the Dougal Campbell Bursary from the Specialist Cheesemakers Association — an award celebrating innovation and promise in artisan cheesemaking.
Formerly known as Old Roan, Yoredale continues to build a loyal following for its quality and character.
