Chet Valley Vineyard
Crafted with Chemistry, Experience & Old-World Expertise
At Chet Valley Vineyard, science meets tradition under the expert guidance of proprietor and vigneron John Hemmant, a graduate chemist with a lifelong passion for winemaking. Drawing inspiration from both old-world masters and modern innovators — including the research of Professor Amerine of Davis University, California — John blends rigorous technique with global perspective.
He continues to deepen his craft through ongoing education at Plumpton Wine College, staying at the forefront of industry advancements. But it’s at his Norfolk vineyard that John’s knowledge truly comes to life.
Grapes are grown with meticulous care, and the winemaking process is approached with sensitivity and precision. From gentle maceration and oxidation control to cool fermentation, cold stabilisation, and finely tuned filtering — every bottle reflects the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Chet Valley wines are not just made — they’re carefully composed, scientifically refined, and artfully finished.
