Langres AOC is a soft, creamy washed rind cheese from the Champagne region, known for its distinctive drum shape and sunken top – the “fontaine” – which traditionally holds a splash of white wine or Champagne. Washed twice a week in brine and annatto, this striking cheese develops a vibrant russet rind and a rich, silky centre.
Its flavour is complex: fruity, pungent, and slightly tangy, with a dense, luxurious texture. Matured for around a month, Langres is a cheese with character and history, originating from the Langres Plateau in the 17th century and awarded AOC status in the 1990s. Each 180g wheel is a bold expression of Champagne's cheesemaking heritage.
