The English Sherry Cask is produced by The English Whisky Company at St George's Distillery in Norfolk, using Norfolk barley and water drawn from the Breckland aquifer.
Maturation in first-fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks gives the whisky its deep fruit and refined sweetness. On the nose you'll find dark fruits, almonds and vanilla lifted by honeycomb and citrus peel. The palate develops into fruit cake, digestive biscuits, honey and figs with a touch of chocolate, before a long, sweet finish with a peppery kick.
Bottled at 46% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration, this is a whisky with both substance and provenance.
It also carries a particularly significant accolade: The English Sherry Cask was named World's Best Single Malt Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2024.

This is a rich, full-bodied and fruit-led single malt with the sweetness and depth you'd expect from maturation in PX sherry casks.

Where is The English Sherry Cask made?
The English Sherry Cask is distilled at St George's Distillery in Norfolk, home of The English Whisky Company.
The distillery uses Norfolk barley together with pure water drawn from the Breckland aquifer, giving this single malt a particularly strong connection to the county in which it's produced.
St George's was England's first registered whisky distillery for more than a century when production began, playing an important role in the revival of English whisky making.
What type of sherry casks are used?
The English Sherry Cask is matured in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Pedro Ximénez – often shortened to PX – is an intensely rich and sweet style of Spanish sherry. Casks that have previously held PX can impart deep fruit, sweetness, spice and other complex characteristics to whisky during maturation.
Here, those casks contribute to the whisky's notes of dark fruit, fruit cake, figs, honey and chocolate.
What does first-fill sherry cask mean?
A first-fill cask is being used to mature whisky for the first time after previously containing another drink – in this case Pedro Ximénez sherry.
Because the cask has not previously been used for whisky maturation, its influence can be particularly pronounced, allowing more of the character retained from the sherry and the oak to interact with the spirit.
