Why It’s On Our Shelves

Sweet | Intense | Mediterranean

Sun-ripened Italian cherry tomatoes, gently roasted and traditionally preserved in extra virgin olive oil with garlic and oregano.

Seggiano Roasted Cherry Tomatoes are naturally sweet grappolato tomatoes, ripened beneath the Mediterranean sun before being lightly roasted to concentrate their flavour and soften their skins.

Traditionally prepared by a family producer in Puglia, southern Italy, the tomatoes are preserved in extra virgin olive oil, rather than the cheaper seed oils often used for preserved vegetables. Garlic, sea salt and oregano provide the finishing touches, allowing the naturally intense tomato flavour to remain very much at the heart of the jar.

Soft, sweet and packed with flavour, they're delicious straight from the jar as antipasti but also make an exceptionally useful ingredient to have in the kitchen.

What do Seggiano Roasted Cherry Tomatoes taste like?

Expect an intense, naturally sweet tomato flavour with the richness you'd associate with fruit that's been allowed to ripen properly in the Mediterranean sunshine.

Light roasting concentrates the tomatoes' natural sugars while softening their skins, giving them a wonderfully succulent texture.

The extra virgin olive oil adds richness, while garlic and oregano provide just enough classic Mediterranean seasoning without overpowering the tomatoes themselves.

How to use Seggiano Roasted Cherry Tomatoes

These are far too good – and far too useful – to reserve solely for an antipasti platter. Try them:

  • Spoon onto bruschetta or crostini
  • As part of an antipasti selection
  • Stirred through freshly cooked pasta
  • Added to risotto and other rice dishes
  • Tossed through warm salads
  • With mozzarella or burrata
  • Alongside charcuterie and cheese
  • Added to soups and stews
  • Spoon over grilled chicken or fish
  • Added to focaccia, pizza and flatbreads
  • Served alongside grilled or roasted vegetables
  • Simply eaten straight from the jar with good bread

And don't forget the extra virgin olive oil left in the jar. Once you've eaten the tomatoes, that beautifully flavoured oil is far too good to waste – use it for dipping bread, dressings or drizzling over pasta and vegetables.

Why we like them

There are preserved tomatoes, and then there are tomatoes you'd happily stand beside the fridge eating directly from the jar.

These are very much the latter.

What makes the difference is partly the tomatoes themselves – naturally sweet, sun-ripened and gently roasted to intensify their flavour – but we also particularly like what they're preserved in.

Seggiano uses extra virgin olive oil rather than treating the oil as somewhere to cut costs. That matters because you're not just buying the tomatoes; the oil becomes part of the flavour and, once the tomatoes have disappeared, an ingredient in its own right.

Simple ingredients, minimal processing and an enormous amount of tomato flavour – sometimes that's really all you need.
