The Cheesemonger’s Notes
Exceptional British Alpine-style cheese with rich savoury depth and outstanding melting qualities
Ogleshield is a celebrated British Alpine-style cheese made at Manor Farm in Somerset by cheesemaker Jamie Montgomery, renowned for his traditional approach and commitment to quality. Originally created to provide an outstanding British alternative for raclette, Ogleshield has become one of the most respected modern British cheeses.
Made using cow’s milk and matured carefully, Ogleshield develops a firm yet supple texture with a natural washed rind. The careful maturation allows the cheese to develop complexity while preserving its smooth, meltable character.
The flavour is rich, savoury, and deeply satisfying, offering nutty warmth, gentle sweetness, and a long, balanced finish. Its excellent melting qualities make it ideal for cooking, while its depth and character also allow it to shine on a cheeseboard.
This is a cheese that demonstrates the strength of modern British Alpine-style cheesemaking.
