Why It’s On Our Shelves

A decaf that doesn’t compromise — smooth, sweet, and genuinely worth drinking

This is where most decaf coffees fall apart.

This one doesn’t.

The Signature Decaf from Norfolk Coffee Company is a light to medium roast designed to prove that removing caffeine doesn’t mean removing flavour.

Sourced from the highlands of Jinotega in Nicaragua, this is a coffee built on quality, scale, and sustainability, delivering a cup that is round, smooth, and quietly indulgent — whether you’re drinking it in the morning, afternoon, or late into the evening.

This is decaf for people who actually like coffee.

In the Cup

Expect a cup that is:

  • Smooth and rounded
  • Sweet with caramel richness
  • Soft chocolate milkshake notes
  • Finished with a subtle pear-like brightness

This is a decaf that drinks like a proper coffee, not a compromise.

About the Cooperative & Farming

This coffee comes from the Aldea Coffee cooperative, a network of over 20,000 smallholder farmers, including more than 5,000 women producers, working across the Jinotega highlands.

Farms average around five hectares and operate within the Café ECOFORESTAL programme — an agroforestry system that:

  • Integrates hardwood and fruit trees
  • Uses banana plants and cover crops
  • Improves soil health and biodiversity
  • Diversifies farmer income

Coffee cherries are selectively hand-picked between December and March, then:

  • Sun-dried at the Asturias facility
  • Carefully prepared for export to maintain consistent moisture and quality

This is coffee grown with long-term thinking — for the land, the producers, and the cup.

Why We Stock It

Decaf is often treated as an afterthought.

We don’t see it that way.

We stock this because:

  • It delivers real flavour, not just the absence of caffeine
  • It comes with clear provenance and responsible sourcing
  • It gives customers a genuinely enjoyable coffee option at any time of day

It earns its place — just like everything else on the shelf.

Perfect Pairings

  • Chocolate brownies or traybakes
  • Caramel desserts
  • Shortbread and buttery biscuits
  • Soft, creamy cheeses for contrast

Ideal Uses

  • Espresso (full flavour, no compromise)
  • Cafetière / French press
  • Filter coffee
  • Evening coffee without the caffeine
