Why It’s On Our Shelves

A beautifully smooth Costa Rican coffee with notes of dark chocolate, walnut and amaretto

La Coloreteada is a superb single-origin coffee from the Acuña Family in the San Carlos region of Costa Rica. Lightly roasted by Norfolk Coffee Company to showcase the natural sweetness and character of the beans, this is a coffee that balances richness with elegance.

Grown at 1,890 metres above sea level and produced from Catuai coffee plants, La Coloreteada offers a wonderfully smooth cup with a pleasing acidity and a long, satisfying finish. Expect indulgent notes of dark chocolate, walnut and amaretto, creating a coffee that is both comforting and complex.

The natural processing method enhances the sweetness of the coffee while preserving the distinctive characteristics of the high-altitude Costa Rican terroir. Whether enjoyed as a filter coffee, cafetière or espresso, La Coloreteada delivers exceptional flavour and balance in every cup.

About The Farm

The Acuña Family oversee every stage of production, from cultivating the coffee on their high-altitude El Aguacate farm through to milling and export. This hands-on approach provides complete traceability and allows quality to be maintained throughout the entire journey from tree to cup.

The farm benefits from rich volcanic soils, reliable mountain rainfall and the cooling influence of nearby Cerro Chirripó, Costa Rica's highest mountain. These ideal growing conditions help produce coffees known for their clarity, balance and sweetness.

After careful hand-picking, the ripe coffee cherries are density sorted before being dried naturally on raised beds for around twenty-two days. Throughout the drying process, moisture levels are closely monitored and the cherries are regularly turned to ensure consistency and quality.

In The Cup

La Coloreteada is exceptionally smooth and approachable. Rich notes of dark chocolate provide depth, walnut adds gentle nuttiness, while hints of amaretto bring a subtle sweetness and complexity. The result is a balanced coffee with a refined acidity and an enjoyable lingering finish.

Why We Stock It

At The Norfolk Deli, we look for coffees that combine outstanding provenance with exceptional flavour. La Coloreteada is a wonderful example of the quality being produced by family-run farms in Costa Rica. Smooth, versatile and packed with character, it's an excellent choice for coffee lovers seeking something refined yet easy to enjoy every day.
