The Cheesemonger’s Notes
Eight exceptional cheeses. Three types of milk. One extraordinary cheesemaking region.
Norfolk and Suffolk produce some of the finest artisan cheeses in Britain. And we've brought eight of them together in one rather impressive collection.
The Cheeses of East Anglia Hamper is a celebration of the independent cheesemakers who have helped put our corner of the country firmly on the British cheese map.
From rich, buttery brie and delicate soft goat's cheese to beautifully matured hard cheeses and characterful blues, this is a selection designed to demonstrate just how varied and accomplished East Anglian cheesemaking has become.
You'll discover cheeses made using cow's, goat's and ewe's milk, produced by some of the region's most respected independent cheesemakers, including Mrs Temple's, Fen Farm Dairy, Ferndale Farm, The Goat Shed, Norfolk & Better, St Jude Cheese and Wilton Farm.
And because we're cheesemongers, not simply hamper packers, every selection is made with an understanding of how different cheeses work together.
Eight cheeses. Approximately 1.7kg. A proper exploration of East Anglian cheese.
Inside this hamper you'll find
The cheeses
Suffolk Gold (approx. 250g)
Made by Suffolk Farmhouse Cheese Company in Creeting St Mary, Suffolk.
A semi-hard cow's milk cheese with a smooth, buttery texture and a mellow, rounded flavour. An approachable and wonderfully versatile cheese that deserves a place on any cheeseboard.
Wensum White (approx. 180g)
Made by The Goat Shed in Honingham, Norfolk.
A soft, bloomy-rind goat's milk cheese with a delicate tang and a beautifully creamy texture. A fine example of how elegant Norfolk goat's cheese can be.
Baron Bigod (approx. 250g box)
Made by Fen Farm Dairy near Bungay, Suffolk.
One of Britain's most celebrated soft cheeses. This unpasteurised cow's milk brie develops a rich, buttery centre with earthy, mushroomy notes and a wonderfully indulgent texture.
Jiffler Blue or Binham Blue (approx. 250g)
Two outstanding Norfolk blues, each with its own distinctive character.
Our first choice is Jiffler Blue, made by Norfolk & Better, offering a creamy texture and beautifully balanced blue character.
Depending on availability, we may include Binham Blue from Mrs Temple's Cheeses, a mellow, creamy blue with gentle saltiness and delicate veining.
Pinkfoot (approx. 250g)
Made by Ferndale Farm Dairy in Little Barningham, Norfolk.
A semi-hard cow's milk cheese with a natural rind and a satisfying, nutty flavour. Named after the pink-footed geese that visit Norfolk each winter, it's a cheese with a real sense of place.
Wells Alpine (approx. 250g)
Made by Mrs Temple's Cheeses at Copys Green Farm, Wighton, Norfolk.
An Alpine-style cow's milk cheese with a firm yet creamy texture and complex, nutty, savoury flavours developed through maturation. A particularly good choice for anyone who appreciates a well-aged cheese.
St Jude (approx. 95g)
Made by St Jude Cheese, founded by Julie Cheyney, in Norfolk.
A delicate, soft cow's milk cheese with a fine bloomy rind, a buttery interior and subtle mushroomy notes. Small in size, but certainly not lacking in character.
Norfolk White Lady or Wissington (approx. 200g)
Made by Wilton Farm in Norfolk.
Both cheeses showcase the distinctive qualities of ewe's milk.
Depending on availability, we'll include either Norfolk White Lady, a mild, creamy sheep's milk brie, or Wissington, a soft ewe's milk cheese with a beautifully smooth texture.
The accompaniments
A cheeseboard this good deserves more than an afterthought when it comes to the extras.
We've included a selection of artisan crackers, chutneys and traditional preserves to complement the different styles of cheese.
- Two packs of artisan cheese crackers – Selected to provide the perfect accompaniment to both soft and hard cheeses.
- The Garden Pantry Chutney – Handmade in small batches in Norfolk, bringing a delicious sweet and savoury contrast to the cheeses.
- Candi's Chutney – Produced in Norfolk by Candi Robertson, whose chutneys are packed with flavour and character.
- Eastgate Larder Medlar Jelly (small jar) – Made by Jane Steward in Eastgate, Norfolk. A traditional English preserve with a delicate sweetness that works particularly well with mature and blue cheeses.
Together, these accompaniments turn an exceptional collection of cheeses into a complete cheeseboard experience.

Freshly cut by our cheesemongers
There's an important difference between buying a box of cheese and buying cheese from a proper cheesemonger.
At The Norfolk Deli, most of our cheeses are cut by hand specifically for your order, either on the day of dispatch or the day before.
We don't simply take a collection of pre-packed cheeses off a shelf and put them into a box.
This means your cheeses are freshly prepared, carefully selected and packed by people who handle and work with artisan cheese every day.
All quoted weights are approximate, reflecting the nature of hand-cut cheese.
Cut cheeses will have a minimum shelf life of 10 days from cutting.
For advice on getting the very best from your selection, read our guide: The Truth About Unrefrigerated Cheese.
Packaging, delivery and gifting
We believe the cheese should be the impressive part, not the packaging.
You won't find unnecessary wicker baskets or elaborate presentation materials here.
Instead, your cheeses are carefully packed in an appropriately sized box, using insulation and ice packs to help protect them during their journey.
It's a practical approach that puts the quality and condition of the cheese first.
The price includes postage and packing, and you can add a personalised handwritten gift message at no additional charge.
Whether you're sending a gift to a serious cheese enthusiast, treating someone who enjoys discovering new flavours, or planning a particularly impressive cheeseboard of your own, this is East Anglian cheesemaking at its finest.
