Collection: Norfolk Rose Wine

Discover rosé wines grown and made in Norfolk – fresh, fruit-driven wines produced by some of the county's independent vineyards.

Norfolk's increasingly diverse wine scene isn't limited to whites, reds and sparkling wines. Local vineyards are also producing distinctive rosés, using cool-climate grape varieties to create wines that are refreshing, expressive and particularly well suited to summer drinking and food.

What does Norfolk rosé wine taste like?

Norfolk rosé tends towards freshness, bright fruit and lively acidity, although individual wines can vary considerably according to the grapes, vintage and winemaking.

Expect flavours and aromas such as strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant and other summer berries, sometimes accompanied by floral, citrus or more savoury characteristics.

Styles can range from pale, delicate and dry to rosés with a little more colour, fruit and body.

Is Norfolk rosé similar to Provence rosé?

If you enjoy a dry, refreshing Provence-style rosé, Norfolk is certainly worth exploring.

The comparison is useful in terms of freshness and easy summer drinking, but Norfolk rosé isn't an imitation of Provence. Different grape varieties, cooler growing conditions and individual approaches in the winery give these wines their own character.

Some are light and delicate; others put considerably more emphasis on ripe berry fruit and texture.

Which grapes are used to make Norfolk rosé?

There isn't a single grape variety that defines Norfolk rosé.

Local vineyards work with red grapes particularly suited to cooler growing conditions, including varieties such as Pinot Noir and Regent, alongside other varieties and blends depending upon the vineyard and vintage.

Regent, for example, can produce particularly attractive fruit-driven rosé, while Pinot Noir is capable of creating elegant wines with delicate red-fruit characteristics.

That variety is part of what makes exploring Norfolk wine interesting – two rosés produced only a few miles apart can be noticeably different.

What food goes with Norfolk rosé?

The freshness of rosé makes it one of the most versatile wines for food.

Try Norfolk rosé with summer salads, seafood, grilled fish, charcuterie, lighter cheeses, Mediterranean-style dishes and picnics. It's equally at home served well chilled on its own.

And while rosé inevitably gets associated with warm weather, there's no reason to restrict it to summer.
