It's Just US - Norfolk Deli

It's Just US

It happens more often than you might imagine.

Someone refers to our "packing department."

Or asks if our "customer services team" can deal with something.

Sometimes we're asked to "speak to the courier" as though we have a dedicated logistics department waiting to negotiate with multinational delivery companies.

The truth?

We smile.

Because there aren't any departments.

There are just people.

No Departments. Just People.

The same people who choose the cheeses are the same people who cut them.

The same people who photograph new products are the same people who upload them to the website.

The same people who answer your emails are the same people who serve customers in the deli.

The same people who wrap your hampers are the same people who pack your parcels.

And, when something goes wrong, the same people who packed your order are usually the people trying their hardest to put things right.

That's life in an independent business.

We Don't Have a Packing Department

We have a packing bench.

We don't have a marketing department.

We have ideas over a cup of coffee.

We don't have customer services.

You speak directly to the people who know the products because they're the people who selected them.

There's something rather refreshing about that.

Why That's Actually Better

Large businesses have systems.

Independent businesses have relationships.

When you ask us which cheese to choose, you're not talking to someone reading from a script.

You're talking to someone who has probably tasted it.

When you ask us to build a hamper, it isn't assembled by a machine.

It's put together by people who genuinely want it to make someone smile.

That's why independent retail still matters.

We Can't Always Compete With Scale

We can't compete with Amazon's warehouses.

Or their buying power.

Or their logistics network.

Nor should we try.

Because that's not what we're about.

We're about quality.

Knowledge.

Conversation.

Recommendations.

Local producers.

And taking genuine pride in every parcel that leaves the deli.

Thank You

Every order placed with an independent business supports real people.

Real livelihoods.

Real communities.

So thank you.

Not because we're not Amazon.

But because you chose not to shop with Amazon.
